Key Facts To Consider After Picking A Retirement Location

Organization: Non-profit 501 sponsored by a large religious organization versus for profit. Clients with a constrained financial situation may prefer church-related CCRCs where people of all faiths are welcome and the church creates the organization and hires a healthcare management company to provide day-to-day management. Religious groups do not have to answer to shareholders and they have deep pockets. Some non-profit CCRCs have a charity fund to assist residents who have depleted assets and need assistance. Some guarantee they will not terminate care for residents who run out of money. For clients where money is not an issue, they may prefer the more luxurious and more expensive accommodations of a for-profit CCRC.

Services offered under 4 types of contracts: Four types of contracts offer three distinct levels of care including independent living, assisted living, and skilled long-term nursing home services .

Type Aâ Life Care or Extensive contract: This type of contract is often considered to be an all-inclusive option with relatively predictable future expenses. This option provides for prepayment of unlimited assisted living and skilled nursing care without additional monthly charges at the point support is needed. In these contracts, the entrance fee includes substantial prepayment for long-term care. The retiree shifts the risk of future costs of LTC to the facility which assumes more risk for price increases.

Entry Fee Requirements For Arizona Ccrcs

Erickson Senior Living: Why Choose A Continuing Care Retirement Community?

Most CCRCs or Life Plan Communities in Arizona require an entry fee. The entry fee is required for several reasons. First and foremost, it secures a residents contractual and priority access to the care they may need while living in the community. The money received from entry fees is also used to help pay down, or limit, the amount of debt required for development, expansion, or long-term capital projects, which keep the community attractive and competitive in the marketplace and also benefits current residents. A portion of the entry fee may go towards an endowment fund set up by the community. An endowment fund is used by many CCRCs- particularly non-profit providers- offer a financial assistance to help ensure that if a resident runs out of money due to a longer than average stay in the healthcare facility, or some other unforeseen circumstance, they will not be forced to leave the community.

CCRC residents can choose the type and amount of services they want according to their needs. These communities provide almost all care types seniors may need over their lifetime. These services include personal care, such as:

  • Toileting
  • Dressing
  • Meal preparation

Some seniors choose housekeeping services as well. Most of the CCRCs also provide emergency medical help available to the residents.

Many communities also provide transportation services to go to various locations. They provide various programs such as social activities, weekend outings, learning opportunities, etc. Services provided varies from one facility to another.

However, because these communities provide numerous amenities at various levels, they serve the versatile needs of the residents.

What Type Of Life Care Contract Do You Offer

We offer 2 options for Type A Life Care contracts. One is our Return of Capital plan, which offers residents smart asset protection. This contract requires a one-time entrance fee, 80% of which will be returned to you or your estate. The second Life Care contract option is a more traditional contract for those who prefer a smaller entrance fee. The smaller entrance fee will amortize over time, until eventually there will be no return of capital.

Under both of the Life Care contract options, the resident will have access to a continuum of care with little change to their monthly fee. Though, the Return of Capital plan covers a private room in Skilled Nursing, and the traditional contract covers semi-private accommodation.

For those who cannot or do not want to invest in Life Care, we also offer the option to rent your apartment home. Seniors with a rental contract will have access to all the benefits of community living, but will not have the security of priority access to care.
