How We Determined The Best Places To Retire In Idaho
To determine the best places to retire in Idaho, we weighed a number of different factors crucial to retirement. Tax burden in retirement for each city comes from 2018. All the cities listed below have a tax burden of 16.9%. This is not the most ideal number out there, with many cities in other states posing tax burdens of a few percentage points lower. However, there are many other cities out there with much higher tax burdens.
We also looked at the number of certain facilities per 1,000 residents including medical centers, recreation centers and retirement communities. Finally, we checked the percentage of seniors living in each city.

Its A Wonderful Place To Call Home
My Dad lived here for 15 years. He made many good friends, and the staff was like family. All of the staff members from the house keeper that came to clean his room once a week, to the bus driver, the wait staff in the dinning room, the folks at the front desk, the managers and the activities director and more made him feel at home. Like family. When he got cancer, and had to go into assisted living, the staff there was equally as kind and careing. During the difficult time of his getting sick and passing, I was treated with the utmost kindness, compassion, respect and helpfulness. A large part of my heart is at Valley View, with the people who touched my Dad and I’s life. It’s a wonderful place to call home. I absolutly recommend Valley View.

What People Are Saying About Boise City
Meridian Idaho We are in the process of having a new home built in Heritage Grove in Meridian to the west of Boise. So excited to be leaving our native California and start anew in Idaho. People are very friendly and something we lack in California are the smooth roads and great traffic flow. No litter and many trees and green lawns. The conservative attitude are a welcome change and Idaho balances their budget annually. Retiring near Boise! We just purchased a home in Star, ID about 20-25 minutes outside of Boise. We fell in love with the area. It\’s one of the cleanest cities I\’ve ever seen and there are few homeless people on street corners. The people are very friendly and the cost of living will definitely be less than Redding, CA where we are from. It was 100 degrees for several days when we were there in July so it gets hot like Redding but it wasn\’t bad. Great restaurants and lots to do. The bike/walking trails are wonderful. Downtown boise has a great feel to it and as much shopping as I, a shopaholic at times, could want. It may be far from other cities but it\’s not a bad drive and there are lots of flights out. The only downside I saw is that there is quite a bit of traffic at times. The cost of homes and utilities were less than CA for sure. We think it\’s the perfect place! Boise
Recreation Culture & Entertainment
Residents enjoy shopping and the restaurants that The Village at Meridian has to offer. There is also a large fountain that puts on a music light show. Theres a great amount of parks throughout the city, such as Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park, Storey Bark Park, and Linder Farms to name a few. Galleries are sprinkled throughout for indoor activities.

Wonderful Experience With A Staff Member
I am a neighbor of Valley View and had a wonderful experience with a staff member yesterday. I approached two ladies on their break time and asked for some assistance. Without hesitation, Char, said she could take care of my problem and she did so immediately. It shows me that Valley View has high caliber employees who recognize the value in taking care of peoples needs. I am sure that the residents receive and appreciate that kind of care and concern from Char and others daily.
