Silver Linings: How Salmons Dining Teams Are Helping During Covid
Posted by SALMON Health on May 22, 2020
In one way or another, our lives have changed over the past several months due to the coronavirus, commonly referred to as COVID-19. What started out as reports from across the globe, quickly started affecting the United States. As the pandemic began to take hold, SALMON started limiting the number of Residents in our dining rooms and cafés. However, as more information started to develop about the virus, the dining teams at SALMON could only offer room service or grab-and-go at our cafés.
During a weekly phone call with all the culinary directors, we asked the question, imagine if you had to eat all your meals at the same restaurant every day? There was a silence on the other end of the line and then it happenedthe culinary teams creativity and caring nature started to shine. Immediately, the culinary department started to develop unique ways to make the dining experience for our Residents even more special.
While watching the culinary staff diligently work, our other departments were also putting themselves on the front lines while caring for our Residents. All departments have been working together to make sure that our Residents are safe and happy in their homes.

Providing Senior Care For Over 60 Years
In 1952, we started as The Salmon Family of Services, which tells you where our heart lies. Our founders back then were both nurses. Their son and his wife, also both nurses, provided more choices for the changing needs and desires of older adults. Their children came to the organization with broad backgrounds in healthcare and the same vision to support the greatest independence possible for others as they age.
Unlike the newer senior living organizations coming into the area, our growth has always been gradual, thoughtful and based on what our customers told us they needed. As a result of making our decisions around serving individual preferences and interests, youll find theres nothing cookie-cutter about us.
Each one of our campuses and its team has its own unique flavor and feeling, so the people living there have a strong sense of home. We know how well that works from the enthusiastic emails, calls and letters from our residents, clients and their families.

Today, third-generation family members Matt, Kate and Andrew Salmon are actively involved in the daily operations of the organizations seven campuses.
